1166 Druckausgaben

Nach 1166 gedruckten Ausgaben und 25 Jahren (was auf der 1165. Ausgabe drauf stand, die wir letzte Woche noch gelesen haben), wird das HK Magazin eingestellt. Es war ein kostenloses Wochenenblatt mit cool-illustrierter heropage, so cool, dass wir in Kuala Lumpur unsere Eingangstür damit beklebt hatten und jeden Donnerstag Abend ein Must-Find war als wir noch in Hong Kong gelebt haben. Schade.

Frustrated by the fact that they were always finding out about parties the day after they’d happened, they set up the magazine. The founders claim the magazine’s initial budget was all of $3. The editor team was always proud of the independent political coverage of the city: "we were never afraid to tell it as we saw it. From our documenting of the community that grew up around the Occupy site in Central, to our coverage of the new voices in the student movements, to our assertion that Hong Kong didn’t (and doesn’t) need a Chief Executive, but a mayor—we’ve been proud to criticize, to push, to provoke and to make fun whenever we thought it mattered. Most of the time—it did."  Danke, HK Magazin, wir haben viel durch dich gelernt (es gab sogar einen, Mr.-Know-it-all!) und sind deiner Druckversion bis zum Ende treu geblieben.
